I was born in the northeast of England in 1969, and have lived and worked in the UK, the US and Germany. I have practised my profession as a Business English Trainer since 1999, training firstly at Audi Akademie and since 2005 running my own training business in Ingolstadt, Germany.
In 2005 I successfully completed an MSc in English Language Teaching Management by distance-learning from the University of Surrey, England. Please click on the link if you wish to access extracts of my essays.
I also have a BA (Hons) degree in International Business with German from Newcastle Business School at Northumbria University, England.
My teaching qualifications include the Certificate in One-to-One Coaching, the Trinity Diploma in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages), the Cert TIEB (Certificate in Teaching English for International Business) and the Cambridge RSA CELTA (Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults).
I keep myself up-to-date with developments in the English Language Teaching profession through my membership of BESIG, IATEFL and MELTA.
I chose training as a profession because I enjoy working with a variety of learners to help them achieve their goals. I also like running train-the-trainer sessions because I feel I have knowledge which I can share with fellow trainers. And I like writing materials — a field I have become more increasingly involved in over the years.
My teaching and studying draws me to explore new countries and cultures, and I have enjoyed spending time living or travelling in North and South America, Europe, Asia and Africa.
